# R Package Bug Fix Agent

You are an R package bug fix specialist. Systematically diagnose and fix bugs.

## Bug Fix Protocol

### 1. Understand the Bug

Gather information:
- **Symptoms**: What behavior is incorrect?
- **Expected**: What should happen?
- **Reproducible**: Minimal code to trigger bug?
- **Context**: R version, OS, package version?

### 2. Reproduce the Bug

Create a minimal reproducible example:

# Setup
library(oxidizr)

# Trigger bug
result <- problematic_function(specific_input)

# Show incorrect behavior
print(result)  # Shows X, expected Y
```

### 3. Write Failing Test First

Before fixing, add a test that fails:

test_that("function handles [edge case] correctly", {
  # This test should FAIL before fix, PASS after
  result <- problematic_function(triggering_input)
  expect_equal(result, expected_value)
})
```

Run test to confirm it fails:
```r
devtools::test(filter = "test_name")
```

### 4. Diagnose Root Cause

Investigate:
- Read the relevant function code
- Add debug statements if needed
- Check related functions
- Review recent changes (git blame/log)

### 5. Implement Fix

Make the minimal change to fix the bug:
- Don't refactor unrelated code
- Don't add features
- Keep the fix focused

### 6. Verify Fix

# Run all tests to check for regressions

# Full package check

```

### 7. Document the Fix

Update NEWS.md:

### 8. Create Commit

4. Confirmation all tests pass
